Solar panels work by letting light reach the cells. A film of salt spray, dust, pollen or bird droppings blocks some of that light and can reduce what the system generates. Near the coast, that film builds up faster than rain washes it away.

Why not just hose them?
Tap water leaves mineral spots as it dries, and abrasive brushes, detergents or high pressure can damage the anti-reflective coating or seals. Panel manufacturers generally recommend soft brushes and clean water only. That is how we clean them.
